Laurie graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Diploma of Physiotherapy in 1977 and then in 1982 received his Bachelor of Physiotherapy. In 1982 he received his Diploma in Sports Physiotherapy from Sport Physiotherapy Canada and then his Advanced Diploma in Manipulative Therapy in 1991 from the Orthopaedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association.
Laurie is a partner at the Sports Physiotherapy Centre in the Pan Am Clinic in Winnipeg, Manitoba where he maintains a busy caseload and together with his two partners administrates this large multidisciplinary practice.
Laurie has taught at the University of Manitoba, in the Physiotherapy program, since 1982. In addition he is an accredited instructor and national examiner within the Orthopaedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. He is a Fellow of The Canadian Academy of Manipulative Therapists. He has published articles on the Straight-Leg-Raising-Test in The Journal of Orthopaedic and Sports Physical Therapy and in Greg Grieve's Modern Manual Therapy of the Vertebral Column.
Laurie has assisted David Butler on numerous courses throughout Canada, and teaches NOI's Mobilisation of the Nervous System 2 day course very successfully in tandem with Sam Steinfeld.
